The movie is based upon the true story of 16 year old Dangoule Rasalaite who came to Sweden from Lithuania with her boyfriend in1999 in order to find work. Instead she was locked up in an apartment outside Malmö, and forced into prostitution. She took her life in January 2000 by jumping from a road bridge in Malmö.
